Embracing the Spirit of Los Cabos: A Journey into Serenity, Culture, and God
Tranquility and Appreciation
I recently had the chance to visit Los Cabos, Mexico, where the stunning azure skies meet the shimmering clear waters, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and awe. The moment I stepped onto the beach and saw the waves curling, rising, and gently crashing onto the shore, I felt the deep presence of God's power and grace. It was as if I could sense the divine in every moment—the sand beneath my feet, the salt in the air, and the gentle breeze that carried the whispers of the ocean. This experience reminded me of the Biblical account of God separating the waters from the heavens and the earth, a profound reminder of the strength and beauty that coexist in nature.
Practicing yoga on the beach was transformative. As I settled into kneeling reverse warrior, with my heart chakra opened and my chest and spine reaching toward the sky, it felt like the entire universe was in alignment. The gentle waves spread out like a welcoming embrace, the mountains stood tall like a reassuring presence, and the vast blue sky overhead was like the very face of God, watching over everything. It was in these moments of deep tranquility that I felt closest to the divine, as if God's spirit was with me, calming my body and centering my soul.
Being near the water always brings me a sense of peace that is hard to describe—it's both calming and invigorating. The rhythm of the ocean, the ebb and flow of the waves, and the distant call of seabirds all contribute to this feeling of serene connection to something greater. It was in this tranquil setting that I was reminded of the grace and power that God embodies. The waves can be tumultuous, yet they soothe my spirit and bring me into alignment, both physically and spiritually.
While in Los Cabos, I immersed myself in the local culture, embracing the vibrant energy of the people and their traditions. I have recently become fascinated by crystals and sound bowls, not as objects of worship but as beautiful elements that connect me to the earth's energy. The Bible even mentions crystals, so I felt a sense of harmony as I explored these aspects of Mexican culture. I was captivated by the pure white sound bowls, perfectly tuned, and enjoyed the variety of handcrafted crystals that adorned the local markets.
Food has always been an essential part of my travels, and Mexican cuisine has long been one of my favorites. I remember asking for a taco party as a child, and as I've grown older, I've come to appreciate the authentic flavors of traditional Mexican dishes. The staff at my resort were kind and welcoming, and they suggested places to explore where I could engage with the locals and experience the true essence of Los Cabos. I even ventured to a nearby Walmart for some groceries, embracing the similarities and differences between American and Mexican culture.
Travel has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my parents didn't travel much—my dad wanted to, but my mom was concerned about safety. After their divorce, my dad started exploring, and I realized that I, too, wanted to see the world. My Great Grandmother was a source of inspiration, always taking trips with her friends, mostly within the US but still traveling. It was her example, along with my friend Kim and my cousin Brittany, who encouraged me to start my own adventures.
The pandemic taught me that life is too short to stay in one place. I had been on a few cruises before, but after the pandemic, I felt an even greater urge to explore beyond what I knew. Singapore has been my most significant trip so far, but I have no plans to stop exploring. Every journey I take, I do so with the belief that God's love and mercy are with me. I travel knowing that there is light within me, and I hope to share that light with everyone I meet, regardless of their thoughts about Americans, Black people, or women.
Los Cabos was a reminder that the beauty of nature can lead us back to a higher power, a source of existence. The sights, sounds, and textures of the natural world are gifts that help us tap into our souls and connect with the divine. My travels are a way to keep exploring, learning, and shining my light in the world, hoping that it reflects back to me in beautiful and unexpected ways.
